Located in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, MA, Ötzi Photography was established with the intention of creating distinctive images that capture the art of the person. Run by husband and wife team William Szostak and Phoenix Mayet, Ötzi (pronounced “et-see”) Photography began as a collaboration between the two incorporating their skill, experience and interest in photography, technology and tattooing. Since its inception in 2008, Ötzi Photography has grown to a full-service photography studio offering portraits and headshots for individuals and groups in addition to operating its mobile studio at tattoo and lifestyles events. We love working with talented tattoo artists and shops and offer commercial photography services for use in advertising, portfolios and for submission to magazines.

“I am a photographer who enjoys taking pictures of people. My goal with each subject is to capture an image that conveys a truth. Whether I'm working with an individual or a group, I seek to create photographs that honor the beauty and individuality of the model. Recognizing the transformative power of tattoos, I strive to produce images that manifest the energy and artistry of the ink and its personal meaning to the model. But keep in mind, you don't have to own a tattoo for us to work together, just an open mind and a willingness to express yourself.”

Otzi the Ice Man
Born about 5,300 years ago, the body of Ötzi was discovered in the Alps in 1991. Ötzi is not only the oldest human mummy ever found in Europe, but he is also the owner of the oldest tattoos in the world. There are 57 tattoos over Ötzi's body and many of them correspond to acupuncture pressure points at the lower back, knee, and ankle, which has led some to believe that the earliest tattoos may have had medicinal purposes.
